David

Donna's Grandson David, he has Autistism and is Non-verbal

About Us

My grandson, David, has autism and is nonverbal. When someone suggested we get him a weighted blanket, we had no idea what that was! We ended up attempting to make one for him, and eventually we just kept at it until we had come up with something we thought we should share! My friend Carol helped with coming up with the pattern and we spent a lot of time in the quilting room at church perfecting our weighted blanket. We still do a lot of work in that quilting room.

Now we have 9 women and 4 men as part of the SensaCalm team. All of us are able to do most of our work from home, so we are happy to spend more time with our families. We each pray for the recipient of the weighted blanket we are making while it is being made. The letters we receive from customers saying that our work made a difference in their lives bless us so much and we read and pass around every one... so keep them coming.

My main focus is answering emails.  I also purchase materials, seek out new products, do some marketing, deal with required paperwork, handle accounts receivable, etc.  My husband Robert works full time, but but he is always willing to help out when I need him. He loves to read the emails and letters we get about the children and his heart goes out to them. I am thankful for his support and that he has the vision for our ministry.

Roger and Carol Kittle

Roger (center) is our Pastor at St. Elmo Avenue Baptist and Carol is his wife. Carol helped create the first weighted blankets we made and has been there for every creation since! She does a little bit of everything now and is the driving force behind keeping us all organized and on track. She does all this while still sewing blankets all week long! Cynthia (tall red hat)  is Carol's daughter. Roger cuts fabric, irons it, and marks the sewing grid with chalk to make it easier for Carol to sew.

Cynthia

Cynthia, wife to Brian, stay at home mom to Jedidiah, Ezra, and Noah. You may notice that Jedidiah and Ezra have worked before as models for our products! Cynthia was the first person to contract for us sewing blankets. She has her hands full with all those little boys, but she still finds the time to make some beautiful blankets.

Sheila is Carol's sister. She has had some experience working with autistic children. Sheila is an expert seamstress and she puts a lot of care into every blanket she makes. Her husband Paul helps as well by cutting and marking the fabric beforehand. They attend Fairview Nazarene together where Paul is the Minister of Music.

Cynthia is married to Alan and has been a stay at home mom caring for her two boys for the last several years. She wears many hats in the community and among her church family, but she has always had a heart for families. She attended college to become a Special Education teacher, but has spent years working and volunteering for local non-profits. Cynthia and I met years ago while working together at a non-profit dedicated to strengthening marriages and families. Cynthia is excited about the opportunity to work with parents, educators, medical professionals, and the many others that dedicate their time and talents to those with special needs.

Mamie

Mamie

Mamie is the wife to Eric, and mom to two teenage boys, Gage and Wes.  Mamie works full time for Blue Cross Blue Shield of TN and spends most of her weekends watching wrestling tournaments!  She has been known to take a college class here or there towards her degree in social work, and in her free time she does something called "Soddy Karate".  (private joke....)

Mamie has been a long time friend and came on board during a time when I really needed some serious HELP with the administrative side of things.  She wasn't working at the time, so she dove right in and got to work.  She's back to her regular job now, but she will always be a part of the team and will ALWAYS be one of my best friends.....I love her and her family dearly.

Mary

I have been married to my husband Ron - affectionately called "Redneck Fred" for almost 28 years this June. We have a wonderful Son Ronnie who will be 24 this year and is currently at the CT Police Academy after accepting a job as an officer at a local police department. We are members of St Edwards Roman Catholic church here in New Fairfield, CT but also my Dad's church St Peter's in Danbury simply because we love the priest!

This has got to be the most rewarding job I have ever had. Entering orders, updating UPS tracking and answering customer calls is my main focus. I love answering the customer calls- mostly they want to share their stories about their children and are happy to find someone to listen. Donna and her crew have no idea how much they impact these families not only with their blankets but with their prayers- I hear it every day. There is no other place I would rather work than right here- I love talking and there is no one I would enjoy talking to more than our happy customers.
