First Time Wash

For vibrant colors like solid red, wash with ½ cup of salt in cold water to set the color.

Cotton Blankets

  • Wash alone in warm or cold water.
  • Avoid using the gentle cycle for heavier blankets in top-loading washers.
  • Blankets over 20 lb should be washed and dried in commercial machines.
  • Tumble dry on low/medium heat or line dry.

Blankets with Cuddle/Minky

  • Wash alone in warm or cold water.
  • Avoid using fabric softener.
  • Follow the same guidelines for washing as cotton blankets.

Waterproof Blankets

  • Wash alone in warm or cold water.
  • Avoid the gentle cycle for heavier blankets in top-loading washers.
  • Blankets over 20 lb should be washed and dried in commercial machines.
  • Tumble dry on low heat or line dry.

Satin Duvets

  • Wash alone in warm or cold water on gentle/delicate cycle or hand wash.
  • Avoid using fabric softener.
  • Line dry.

Dealing with Difficult Stains

If you encounter tough stains like wine, coffee, or tea on your weighted blanket, don't worry. Here's how to tackle them effectively:

  • Pre-soak the stained area in warm water with a gentle detergent.
  • Blot the stain gently with a clean cloth.
  • Use a solution of equal parts cold water and white vinegar to dab at the remaining stain.
  • Rinse thoroughly with cold water and spot treat any remaining residue with a gentle detergent.
  • Follow the care instructions for washing your blanket to ensure proper cleaning.

Dealing with Wrinkles

While ironing may seem tempting to remove wrinkles, it's best to avoid it to prevent damage to the blanket's filler material. Instead, try gently shaking or laying the blanket flat to smooth out wrinkles naturally.

How Often to Wash

The frequency of washing your weighted blanket depends on usage. If you use it nightly, consider washing it every few weeks. If spills or pet usage are common, wash it more regularly to maintain cleanliness.

Getting Started with Your Weighted Blanket

Upon receiving your new weighted blanket, inspect it and give it a wash to remove any residue or wrinkles from shipping. Remember, our blankets are meant for relaxation and should never be used as a form of punishment. Ensure users can remove the blanket on their own, and keep an eye out for small beads, especially around children.

Introducing Your Weighted Blanket

Some people may take time to warm up to their new blanket, and that's okay. Introduce it gradually and repetitively, especially for children with autism who thrive on routine. Use the blanket during calming activities like bedtime, car rides, or moments of anxiety.

At SensaCalm, we're committed to providing you with quality weighted blankets to enhance your sleep and relaxation. If you have any questions about your new blanket, don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for choosing SensaCalm!
